Finding The Still Point

If we don’t take time to decelerate, pause, and release the energies and emotions we have accumulated throughout our day we bring them with us into bed, where they remain while we try to rest.

Experience that isn't discharged doesn't just disappear - it sinks into our tissues and nerve endings and remains there until dealt with or moved through.

If days, weeks, or months go by, these experiences can create tensions that materialize in our minds and bodies as pace, hurry, anxiousness, restlessness, or fatigue.

When speed gets trapped in the body, our biological rhythms come out of balance. Caught in a loop of stress, overstimulation, and overwork, the body’s equilibrium is disturbed and the quality of our sleep suffers.

This monthly slow yoga workshop is designed to explore and relieve tension in the body through simple somatic movements that can help return the body to a state of calm, particularly before sleep. The 75 minute sequence will be oriented toward transitioning between day and night, doing and non-doing, stimulus and silence.

All exercises will be performed on the floor and be done slowly, in isolation, and without force.

Rooted in yoga, Zen Buddhism, and somatic education, this unique session integrates sensory awareness practices with finely articulated movements to unite breath and motion, promoting fascial release without strain.
