What is Slow Yoga?

This yoga practice involves a slow journey from outer to inner and from involuntary to fully conscious.

We begin with an opening meditation and spend the first half of practice on the floor, releasing tension and fatigue through therapeutic rocking, gliding, and sliding movements designed for fascial release.

Each class includes synchronization and sensory awareness practices to strengthen the connection between body and mind. The second half of class is centered on dynamic actions in a slow moving standing series.

This approach to movement uses ease, relaxation, and non-force to open all channels of the body, encourage the nervous system to slow down and release built-up muscular tension, enabling your body to move more freely and with less strain.

About Ryan

After dedicating most of my life to athletic training and competition, my body gradually began to struggle under the relentless strain, fatigue, and physical demands I had been placing on it. Since then I have discovered and developed a yoga practice that runs as a countercurrent to the pressures and models of fitness and exercise I was exposed to from a young age.

My yoga classes are slow, embodied, and focused on the inward, not outward expression of each posture. My goal is to help students cultivate presence through subtle movement and conscious breath, to calm and ease the body and help quiet the mind.
