This slow yoga workshop is designed to explore and relieve tension in the body through simple somatic movements that can help bring the body back into a state of calm particularly before sleep. In this practice we will slowly relax the body, move from periphery to center, in order to prepare for the possibility of the still point.
Rooted in yoga, zen buddhism, and somatic therapy this unique session will integrate sensory awareness practice and finely articulated movements to unite breath and motion, promoting fascial release without strain.
Most of the exercises are non-weight bearing and involve sliding, gliding, and circular movements done on the floor. All movements are done slowly, in isolation, and without force.
Designed to complement asana practice this style of movement encourages gentle, flowing movements that open up the body's tissues and release stored tension while helping students foster deep inner listening.
